Data Settings for Pay & Go and Pay Monthly
(non iPhone tariff) customers

 

If you're a Pay & Go customer and have the iPhone OS 3.0 Software, you'll need to change your iPhone APN (data) settings. This will get features like mobile internet and picture messaging (MMS) working. Details below.

If you're a Pay Monthly customer but don't have the iPhone Bolt On, or a specific iPhone tariff, then you won't be able to get the full iPhone experience.

Here's what you'll need to do:

  1. From the main screen of your iPhone tap Settings > General > Network

  2. Under Cellular Data Network
    • For Pay & Go customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter payandgo.o2.co.uk (Please note that "o2" needs to be written with a letter "o" and not a zero)
    • For Pay Monthly customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter mobile.o2.co.uk (Please note that "o2" needs to be written with a letter "o" and not a zero)
    • You don't need to change your username and password
  3. Ignore the Visual Voicemail APN box - it's not available to Pay & Go customers or Pay Monthly customers (with a non iPhone tariff)

  4. Under MMS
    • For Pay & Go customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter payandgo.o2.co.uk (Please note that o2 needs to be written with a letter o and not a zero)
    • For Pay Monthly customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter wap.o2.co.uk (Please note that o2 needs to be written with a letter o and not a zero)
    • You don't need to change your username and password
  5. Turn your iPhone off and on again

  6. If you're a Pay & Go iPhone customer, using your iPhone sim for the first time, you'll need to top up by at least £10.

If you're a Pay Monthly customer not on an iPhone tariff, to get the full experience you may be able to change to one of our tariffs for iPhone:

  • Pay Monthly
    if you're on an existing 18 or 24 month contract, you can change to an iPhone tariff. Details can be found here.
    Once you've decided which iPhone tariff you'd like, please complete this form
  • Business
    To add the iPhone Bolt On, please complete our online form and your tariff transfer will take place within the next 24hrs.
  • Corporate
    To add the iPhone Bolt On just contact your O2 Account Manager or O2 Customer Service to discuss your options.
